When playing Taric, Sona... champions that build Diadem of Songs
itemization // support
Items, explained
// when to buy what, and why — trinkets, boots, components, anti-heal and every support item, broken down for enchanters and engage.
Early & snowball
2Enchanter and looking to snowball, you know you likely don't die. - Get in on your first base. Good to get some HP / damage. Great into weaker lanes like Rakan/Zilean/Braum/Alistar... (OP in Soloq)
When to upgrade to Mejai's? When you have 10 stacks and winning the game OR when first item is complete and regardless of the stacks you need 25 Mejai's stacks to carry the game.
Components
5Best component for Engage champions during the game - Against engage lanes and you are not roaming (for engage & enchanters) Example: Locket + Kindlegem (you can complete diff items after)
Example: you base with 900g ENGAGE: Kindlegem (800g) + Control Ward + 1 Potion ENCHANTER: Kindlegem (800g) + Control Ward + 1 Potion (exception Ardent/Shurelyas rush)
Playing Enchanter and you value Mana Regen more in laning phase
Building Ardent / Redemption / Mikael / Staff first item and you prio mana regen
No need for Mana Regen want to go more aggro in laning phase
VERY IMPORTANT when playing Tahm Kench To save teammates with R against Lock Down CC, example: Lissandra/Malza/Varus Also very good against Nocturne R, you get ride of the Darkness
You pick Tahm Kench into Nocturne/Vi/Malza/Ashe/Varus to save your teammates from important CC, to avoid you getting insta killed by this, QSS is great (also give a bit of MR)
Anti-heal
3Build with Carry Supports like Senna, Pantheon...
When should I buy anti heal? You buy the anti heal item after completing your first support item sometime even before. You "never" complete the item. Against who you buy anti heal? Always when enemy team has 1 HEALING BASED CHAMPION, this means when the champion mainly relies on healing. Soraka/Vladimir/Warwick/Kayn(red)/Dr.Mundo/Swain/Briar/Aatrox Always when enemy team has 2 or more of the following champions OR 1 is extremely fed. Sylas/Taric/Sona/Nami/Yuumi/Milio/Master Yi/Olaf/ADC with BT/Trundle/Nidalee/Voli/Fiddle
Build with Enchanter/Mage or even some engage supports Example: Rell, Alistar, Rakan, Maokai
The ones that don't buy Oblivion Orb or Executioners ... I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND BUYING THIS
Defensive
2Core item of certain supports like Neeko/Morgana/Fiddle... - Playing against OS Assasins and you are able to afford it
Rell/Alistar vs Poppy/Taliyah Its after your first item (no rush)
This item will avoid Poppy W when you engage or Taliyah E for the same reason.
Boots
6When I want to early roam as an Engage support - When playing Engage against Range botlane - Playing against skillshot lane (Xerath, Morgana, Karma...)
When not to buy early? Playing Engage vs Engage I prio HP (Ruby Cristal) Playing Enchanter vs Engage I prio HP (Ruby Cristal) Playing Enchanter vs Enchanter if I don't need MS I choose AP/Mana Regen
Perfect if you want to roam and impact the map early on - Good when Mercs or Steelcaps are not needed (playing engage/carry) - Against slows in enemy or Blitzcrank
Engage: Roam and impact the map. Enchanter/Mages: Survive better, helps with positioning and you don't need extra ability haste from Ionian.
Reduces CD of Summoner Spells (strong synergy with Cosmic Insight) Boots Flash CD: 4:30 ; Boots + Cosmic Flash CD: 3:50 - Good for Engage (needs F)
Really good with: Rell, Alistar, Annie, Neeko, Rakan Exhaust users: you want to have Exhaust as much times as possible.
When enemy team is full AD and you are playing Engage support maybe some enchanters can benefit too. - When enenmy team has 2/3 auto attack champions (Yasuo/Graves/ADC)
When playing Alistar, you don't need them if you use R properly.
When enemy team has a lot of CC
When playing Alistar, you don't need them if you use R properly.
Playing mage supports like Lux, Zyra, Elise and you are building AP items
Support items
5Mage supports, you want more damage, early snowball (can always swap later) Example: can build on Janna for early/midgame and change to another later
Strong for Enchanters (shield and heal)
Needed when enemy team has burst (engage or enchanter) - Very good for Spellbook users (no Aftershock) - Very good for Engage champions that go for Aggro build (Electro Alistar/Rakan)
First target focus - Get it when playing with Viego/Ahri/Jinx for resets
When you value Movement Speed for your teammates (defensive or aggro) - Good synergy with Bandlepipes
Enchanter
10Very strong item when your team has 0 engage - First item option is good
Example: your team has no engage but the Movement Speed will help to run at the enemy and start a fight. Remember MOVEMENT SPEED is the most broken stat in League of Legends
Must buy as enchanter with Hypercarries - Strong first item with the following ADCs and you want to play as a pair Jinx/Aphelios/Twitch/Kog/Vayne/Yunara/Sivir
If your team has more more champions that benefit from Ardent active, like Yasuo/Jax/Kindred... it's also a great buy
When you have APC in botlane and you are playing enchanter
Really good with Sona (2nd/3th item). Nami + APC good 2nd item after Mandate.
Good with CC supports, engage or mages - Good option as 2nd item after your core item
Build on engage champions that can survive like Rakan/Alistar, avoid with all-in champions like Rell/Leona that can't disengage a fight.
For enchanter that are looking to do the Shiled Build Shield Build = Moonstone + Forbidden Idol item + Dawncore - Milio Helia + Moonstone
Good option to play as a pair for longer time, also build from Kindlegem which is really strong when you are playing against engage/hook/burst champions and you don't rush Rede/Mikaels.
Strong item if you can do damage + shield/heal (Sona) - Good synergy with Diadem of Songs
Good option if you can deal reliable damage in fights without exposing yourself and have shields or heals to proc it. WON'T RECOMMEND MAGE BUILDING THIS WITH DIADEM
Underrated first item buy for enchanters (strong). When playing against AoE damage (Karthus, Diana, Brand...). When you have strong sidelaners, you can use from mid to sidelane
OP when enemy team has CC lock (Lissandra, Varus/Ashe...) - Can be bought as first item, usually you choose Redemption or Mikael - You can self-clease if timed properly
Warning: would avoid building in LOW MMR games, usually your teammates wont make good use of the CC removal, but can be really good if there is a strong CC that you can cleanse for your ADC lategame.
For enchanters that are very mana hungry: Sona, glacial Janna - Great combo with Echoes of Helia
Warning: this item will fully stack around min 18. Buying another Tear after completion is not worth it for enchanters, it's better to build another item.
3rd item option - For enchanters going Moonstone + 2nd item + Dawncore Sometimes it can be fine as 2nd item (Yuumi)
Engage
8Strong first item for engage supports - When playing against AoE damage / burst champions - 3rd/4th option for some enchanter if enemy team has AoE damage
Strong combo: when playing against a lot of AoE damage you can build Locket + Redemption
Strong first item for Rell/Alistar/Rakan... - Good when enemy team is mostly melee - Good snowball item, great for Ult CD reduction.
Strong first item when you have CC & your team can use Attack speed - Good synergy with Solstice Sleigh (movement speed)
When good for my team?: when ADC is hypercarry or 2 champions in your team benefit a lot from Attack Speed, for example, Diana/Yasuo/Yone/Jax...
Good with strong Bruiser/ADC (carry in general) - Good option as 2nd item after Locket/Zekes (for engage supports) - Strong if enemy team is mostly AD
1st item: you could buy it as first item if enemy team is full AD and you have a strong carry to protect.
When enemy team has AA champions (more than 1) - Heavy AD teamcomp (enemy) - Good 2nd or 3rd item after some HP 1st item
Want to roam, have more impact damage wise - Good on: Bard, Poppy, Sett, Vi - Must be 1st item
2nd/3rd item - On tanky supports - When your team has 2 AP champions and enemy has some AP damage
CORE ITEM FOR LEONA IN SOLOQ, BUY 1ST IGNORE WITH OTHER CHAMPIONS
TIP: Make sure to look for fights if you build this item early game, it's really strong, gets weaker later in the game (weak vs anti-heal).
